The tour will visit a house under construction in Kirribilli featuring rammed earth walls. The walls half a meter thick have been shaped to allow diagonal views to the water and privacy on the three storey stairwell.
The red clay colouring has been selected to balance the cool palette of the concrete, stone, and garden. The house is a climate machine, with the thermal mass of the rammed earth, the controlled skylight solar access, the chimney effect of the stairwell, the cooling effect of the clay walls, the photovoltaic cells on the green roof etc.
