Solar and Wind Powered House in Armidale                                                June 2009

This is a totally self sufficient house, disconnected from the power and from the town water, and the sewer system.

Armidale is 1000m above sea level and Luigi Rosselli’s design has provided a passive solar design with thermal mass given by concrete slabs and two large 50,000 concrete water tanks below the house.

Also, the house has a bush fire protection bunker under the house with two hours fire rated walls and doors and 50,000 litres of fresh air available and direct access to the water tanks.
