Luigi Rosselli Pty Ltd is a multi-disciplinary design firm with extensive experience in architecture and interior design.
The Principal, Luigi Rosselli, was educated and trained in Europe. He advocates the typically European approach to architecture as a whole design method which spans from “the spoon to the city”.
Rosselli, in his formative years lived in Milan, Lausanne and New York and had close exposure to some of Europe’s most influential and celebrated educators and designers. At university he was in the company of Alvaro Siza and Kenneth Frampton, with Umberto Riva as his thesis professor. A few years of his training was spent in the practice of Mario Botta in Switzerland and Mitchell Giurgola & Thorp, first in New York and then in Canberra, where he contributed to the design of the Parliament House in Canberra.
The firm was established in 1985 in Surry Hills, Sydney and since then has worked on nearly 500 projects. The firm has acquired a reputation for a very high standard and quality of design, sense of materials and proportions.
Among the 500 projects, the firm has provided services to the most sophisticated clients in Sydney, such as former Sydney Festival Director, Leo Schofield, INXS group musicians, and captain of the Wallabies, George Gregan. The firm has worked on luxury waterfronts at Point Piper, Mosman, Northbridge and other demanding sites which require particular attention to the finishes, equipment and accessories.
Rosselli has worked extensively overseas with commissions in the USA and Switzerland, and travelled in order to recognise the requirements of an international clientele. He has kept in contact, and regularly visits his international connections. The result is an architecture devoid of provinciality.
The firm is currently working on A$20 million worth of projects and has the capacity to work on any new commission with a maximum lead time of three weeks. Rosselli, being partially Swiss, has always provided very punctual and reliable services.
Rosselli’s approach to architecture is principled and modern, employing the use of good proportions, comfort and solidity. He gestures his work towards the humane and the human body, allowing the works the same freedoms and eccentricities. There is always a search for the poetic and a recognition of the lyric.
